I'm BAAAAAACK! (With lots and lots of pics)

Sorry I haven't updated in a month. I'd like to say I've been way too busy but the fact is that I'm simply lazy.
So, to recap what has happened to me in the past month:
I went home for October break, which was fun. Then I went to Rhinebeck, which was awesome! I love me some sheep!
Then I came back to Vassar, and this past weekend my friends from home came up and went to the Halloween dance. Sam wore her Slytherin vest that I knit her!

Doesn't it look so good? I was so proud of myself!

Also, I knit some CHERIE AMOUR!!!! I've been lazy and have procrastinated on knitting the sleeves (same with BFC). Here's some progress pics though:



The main body is done, so that's great. Sorry about the pink bra in the pics. I get lazy sometimes!

Then there's my Rainbow socks in some Regia 4 ply. I cast these on right before I left for October break, knit them on the train, knit them at Rhinebeck, knit them at the Ravelry party, then shamefully cast them aside for my other socks (I have some serious knitting ADD). Here's a progress shot though:


Also I started Eunny Jang's Entrelac Socks in some Cherry Tree Hill yarn I bought at Rhinebeck. They are gorgeous!!!!!






And finally, two FOs. These are Breeze socks in Patons Grace. Fresh off the needles (actually I finished them last night!) for Sockdown October on Ravelry:





And Tychus, for Sarah, in lime Simply Soft!



Next up: Scheherezade's Slippers for Sam (she's playing that role in Arabian Nights), Child's First Sock by Nancy Bush, and I'm sure tons more socks. I leave you with these lovely cookies that my friend Jess made and me in my Halloween costume!

$1 yarn!!

So, today was a wonderful day. Mostly because on the way home from a story I was reporting on, I stopped at Michael's to buy a new yarn needle (I lost mine sometime in the last week). I hadn't been there in a while (my yarn diet and all...) so I was amazed when I found all this sale yarn. I thought I would buy some Fancy Fur because that knits up quickly into a scarf (a friend's birthday passed and I'm still knitting her present. So I found a ball of that. And then...there was Moda Dea Sassy Stripes. I was going to just buy 2 balls because I thought they were $3. But then I looked at the tag, and it said $1 per skein!!!

I went kind of delirious and bought 4, but I guess I'll make socks out of them (hopefully the socks won't be too thick...). They are all the same color (supposedly the same dye lot, but probably not. I've grown not to care too much about that with socks anymore. You'll understand when you see my 2nd jaywalker) so I figure that I'll make matching socks for me and my mom or a friend or something.
I'm usually a bit snooty when it comes to sock yarn but this was ONE DOLLAR YARN!!! Hopefully it won't deteriorate when I start to knit it.

Since I can't have a post without a picture, my friend Sam just came back from England and here's the vest I made her:

I love it with the tie. She sat all day in this on the 21st and read the HP book while people walked by and looked at her like she was crazy. I think it looks great and it fits her perfectly! She looks like such a Slytherin. Maybe they will hire me to make vests for the next movie!

Over the weekend my friends and I were watching a special about the new HP movie, which I didn't like that much except for all the knitted sweaters and stuff. So now I'm going to try to find more screencaps of the costumes so I can attempt to make them (they will probably be finished by the time the 7th movie comes out).

Anyway, I must get back to work.

FOs and the end of my sanity

So...this past Friday was my birthday. And my parents got me the Twinkle Big City Knits book that I asked for!

So here's what I'm currently knitting:
Nona's Sidewinders (have 1 ready to be grafted but I forgot to take pictures)
Jaywalkers for my friend who lives in Korea

Another one of these in blue (this one was given to my friend as a graduation gift but modeled by my mom before I wove in the ends)

I know it looks horrendous over yellow. It's the Anthropologie inspired capelet. The one I'm making in blue is the same size (I made a few mods to this to fit better) but longer in the back and sleeves because it's for my mom. Then I'm making another one for a friend (I told her she was helping me destash). They're pretty easy to make so I don't mind making several.

I'm not too far off from finishing my Lelah in blue Simply Soft either. I bring it to the movies because I'm on the boring stockinette part now.

I'm also doing MS3. If you didn't sign up, it officially sucks to be you! Just kidding! It's my first real foray into lace and I'm loving it!

Here's a vest I made for my friend in Slytherin colors out of Woolease about a month ago. She's in England now and hopefully she will wear it when the book/movie comes out and will take lots of action shots. (excuse my messy bed in the post-blocking pics)

I'm biting my nails waiting to get on Ravelry. I think I signed up in May, but I still haven't gotten an invite yet!

Next on my agenda:

I looooooove this. I'm not sure what I will make it out of (like I said, I'm destashing to get ready for college) but I know it will be gorgeous.

My mom emailed me these footies. I think they're cute and I have some sock yarn I want to get rid of.
Maybe about a hundred Isabeaus (or is is Isabeaux? I did take AP French, you think I would know the difference) out of stash yarn.

And I don't know any young children but I think that this sweater is the cutest thing ever, but I might do it in different colors.
